Oct. 26-29: Football plus Breeders' Cup
This is one of my favorite weekends of the year. We have a full slate of college football and some good NFL matchups, and even the World Series thrown in on the sports side, but we also have the Breeders' Cup with 3 new races on Friday and the regular schedule of 8 races on Saturday. I've had a lot of success on BC Day, as I detail on ViewFromVegas' new Breeders' Cup page, plus my selections for this year's races.
Back to football . . . every year, I worry that my football handicapping will suffer because I'm spending so much time analyzing the Breeders' Cup, and writing about it and making radio appearances, etc. (those are all also on the Breeders' Cup page) but for whatever reason, I usually have, Maybe because I don't have the time to overthink things. Who knows.
Anyway, here's my seven college plays (note: I was a pretty pathetic 2-5 last week in the colleges, and I'm 21-28 on the year in the Leroy's College Challenge contest, so it's not like I have to worry about the horses messing up my handicapping in that sport):
UConn +4.5 vs. South Florida
Miami-Ohio +13.5 at Vanderbilt
Colorado +13.5 at Texas Tech
USC +2.5 at Oregon (grab the +3, though I'm definitely looking for the Trojans to win outright)
Colorado St. +5.5 vs. Utah
Stanford +13.5 vs. Oregon St.
California +2.5 vs. Arizona St.
I went 3-2 last week in the NFL and feel like I've turned a corner, though the money-line plays on my underdogs haven't been faring well. I'll update those overall records in the next blog:
Vikings +1 vs. Eagles...except for 1 game vs. Lions, what has Philly done to be a road fave?
Bills +2.5 vs. Jets...wish it were 3, but wrong team favored
Texans +7 vs. Chargers...Houston showed heart in rally vs. Titans...SD can't help but be distracted
Jaguars +3.5 vs. Bucs...overadjustment for loss of Jax QB, was Jax -2.5 prior to last Monday
Packers +3 vs. Broncos...Pack better team, Den fans selling tix so they can watch Rocks instead
Good luck, everybody!
